Fish Health & Wellness
Seachem One Year Combo Alert uses Seachem water sensor technology to continuously monitor ammonia and freshwater pH in your aquarium for an entire year, no tests or strips required. All you have to do is hang it in your tank!
- Continuous freshwater pH and ammonia readings
- No strips, no tests, just constant readings
- Easy monitoring - just hang in your tank
Ammonia Alert: The sensor automatically detects free ammonia at levels less than 0.05 mg/L (ppm) and alerts you to the presence of the primary killer of fish before it reaches hazardous levels and causes signs of stress. In the absence of free ammonia the sensor will assume a yellow color, and will move to green and blue as more ammonia is detected. Ammonia is detected continuously with a response time of just 15 minutes, allowing you to respond immediately and avoid further increases. Ammonia Alert lasts over 9 times as long as competing products, and is only about half the size.
pH Alert: pH is constantly monitored, with a sensor that alerts you to shifts in pH levels between 5.4 and 8.0 (freshwater only). It lasts up to 4 times as long as competing products and is small, clear, and unobtrusive when in the tank.
Seachem pH Alert Reader is a unique color device designed to be placed in the aquarium or filter and monitor pH continuously. A sensor changes color reversibly to alert you shifts to in pH levels between 5.8 and 8.5.
- No strips, no tests, just constant readings
- Detects pH shifts anytime for 3-6 months
- Small and unobtrusive
- For freshwater use only
DIRECTIONS: Simply place Sea Chem pH Alert Reader visibly anywhere in the aquarium or filter. Its that easy. No chemicals or test procedures are required. When first put in service, response time will be about 30 minutes. Thereafter, pH shifts will register within ten minutes. The life of the pH Alert Reader sensor may vary depending on a variety of tank parameters. A replacement sensor is included to ensure effectiveness for 3 to 6 months. Sensor exhaustion is indicated by a visible fading or washing out of sensor color.
Seachem Prime is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and saltwater aquariums. Use during startup and water changes to eliminate and detoxify harmful chemicals in tap water and make your aquarium safe for fish.
- Removes chlorine, chloramine and toxic ammonia
- Detoxifies nitrite and nitrate
- Provides protective slime coat
Prime is safe for fresh and saltwater aquariums. It detoxifies ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. Use Sechem Prime to detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels. Prime also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. Seachem Prime is non-acidic, will not impact pH and will not overactivate skimmers.
Use at startup and whenever adding or replacing water. Prime may also be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity.
Directions: Use 1 capful (5 ml) for each 200 L (50 gallons) of new water. This removes approximately 1 mg/L ammonia, 4 mg/L chloramine, or 5 mg/L chlorine. For smaller doses, please note each cap thread is approx. 1 ml.
Tips: May be added to aquarium directly, but better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. Sulfur odor is normal. For exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. To detoxify nitrite in an emergency, up to 5 times normal dose may be used. If temperature is > 30 °C (86 °F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, use a half dose.
Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium is a non-caustic (pH 8.3-8.6) optimized blend of ionic calcium designed to restore and maintain calcium levels to those found in natural seawater. Note that if either calcium or carbonates become deficient, coral growth will cease, followed by a rapid decline in coral health.
- Raises calcium to natural seawater levels
- Capable of raising 20 gallons of water by 25 ppm of calcium with only 1 teaspoon
- Non-caustic and pH balanced (pH 8.3-8.6)
- Maintains magnesium and strontium, will not deplete alkalinity
In addition to calcium, Reef Advantage provides magnesium and strontium in amounts proportionate to typical utilization ratios (100:5:0.1, Ca:Mg:Sr), helping to maintain three critical elements at once. Unlike limewater (kalkwasser), Reef Advantage Calcium does not have a caustic pH and will not deplete magnesium. When used as directed, it will not deplete alkalinity.
Directions:
BEGINNER: Use 5 g (1 level teaspoon) per 150 L (40 US gallons) twice a week. For precise dosing, use the Seachem Digital Spoon Scale. Dissolve in at least 250 ml (1 cup) of freshwater. Check calcium every 2 weeks and adjust amount or frequency accordingly.
ADVANCED: Check calcium level, then follow addition regimen above until calcium is adjusted to 380–420 mg/L. Each 5 g/150 L will raise calcium by about 12 mg/L. Quantity or frequency can be adjusted, but do not exceed 10 g/150 L per day. Thereafter, use as required to maintain calcium.
EXPERT: After determining the calcium consumption rate, set up a continuous drip system. Use the following formula to determine how much to add to your top-off water: m=vc/400 (m=grams to add to top off water, v=volume of tank in liters, c=amount to raise calcium in mg/L). [For reference: 1 gallon=3.8 liters, 5 g=1 teaspoon].
DO NOT OVERDOSE: Excess calcium may enhance the loss of carbonate alkalinity. Do not directly mix with any carbonate supplement. Best if calcium and carbonate additives are added on alternate days or at least 30 minutes apart.
Ingredients: Calcium Chloride, Magnesium Chloride, Strontium Chloride.
Guaranteed Analysis:
Calcium (Ca) (min) - 335 mg; (max) - 347 mg
Magnesium (Mg) (min) - 17 mg
Strontium (Sr) (min) - 0.34 mg

Seachem Reef Buffer raises the pH of a reef aquarium to 8.3, without the risk of accidentally raising pH to a dangerous level. It will also raise alkalinity, allowing for greater stability in a reef system where the bioload is significantly greater than in a fish-only aquarium.
- Raises pH and carbonate alkalinity together
- Raises pH to 8.3 without risk of accidentally over-raising
- Allows for greater pH stability in reef systems with high bioload
Reef Buffer will raise pH and carbonate alkalinity. However, it is intended primarily to maintain a steady pH of 8.3 when pH maintenance is difficult. If pH maintenance is not an issue, Seachem Reef Builder or Reef Carbonate should be your first choice to supplement carbonate alkalinity.
Reef Buffer has a slightly higher pK than Seachem Marine Buffer. pK of a buffering agent is equivalent to the pH around which the buffer is most effective; Reef Buffers higher pK (8.6) provides greater stability in a reef system, where the bioload is greater than a fish-only system. The higher pK compensates for the organic acids produced by reef inhabitants, holding pH steady at 8.3.
Directions: Check pH and alkalinity before use. Use 5 g (1 level teaspoon) for every 150 L (40 US gallons) to raise pH by about 0.1 pH units (this will also raise alkalinity by about 0.5 meq/L). For precise dosing, use the Seachem Digital Spoon Scale. Dissolve in at least 250 ml (one cup) of freshwater, then add to the tank. The pH of natural sea water is 8.25–8.30. In a well established reef system, pH adjustment may be necessary biweekly to semiweekly. Dosing requirements will vary, but do not exceed the recommended dose without checking your pH and alkalinity (alkalinity should not exceed 6 meq/L).
If an alkalinity of 6 meq/L has been reached and a pH of at least 8.20 has not been attained or substantial cloudiness that does not clear within 15 minutes is encountered, then the system is not ionically balanced. To restore ionic balance perform a water change or adjust the magnesium and calcium levels to approximately 3:1 Mg:Ca.
DO NOT OVERDOSE: Excess alkalinity may enhance the loss of calcium, magnesium, and strontium. Do not directly mix with any calcium, magnesium, or strontium supplement. Best if calcium and carbonate additives are added on alternate days or at least 30 minutes apart.
Seachem Reef Builder supplies the carbonates and calcium which are essential for all coral growth. It also raises carbonate alkalinity without immediately impacting water pH, and will stabilize aquarium water at pH 8.3 with long term use.
- Raises carbonate alkalinity (KH) with minimal pH impact
- Provides a blend of carbonate sources that will not lower pH
- Will not deplete calcium, magnesium, or strontium
- Promotes healthy coral growth
If either calcium or carbonates become deficient, coral growth will cease, followed by a rapid decline in coral health. Used as directed, Seachem Reef Builder will not deplete calcium, magnesium, or strontium which usually tend to precipitate with increasing alkalinity.
Seachem Reef Builder and Reef Buffer may be used together: use Reef Builder to raise carbonate alkalinity without affecting pH, and use Reef Buffer to raise carbonate alkalinity and pH. As a general rule, reef alkalinity should be maintained at 3–5 meq/L (8–14 dKH); alkalinity should not be allowed to fall below 2 meq/L.
Directions:
BEGINNER: Use 3 g (1/2 level teaspoon) per 150 L (40 gallons) twice a week. Dissolve in at least 250 ml (1 cup) of freshwater. Check alkalinity every 2 weeks and adjust amount or frequency accordingly. For precise dosing, use the Seachem Digital Spoon Scale.
ADVANCED: Check alkalinity, then follow addition regimen above until alkalinity is adjusted to 4–5 meq/L. Each 3 g/150 L will raise alkalinity by about 0.25 meq/L. Quantity or frequency can be adjusted, but do not exceed 12 g/150 L per day. Thereafter, use as required to maintain alkalinity.
EXPERT: After determining the alkalinity consumption rate, set up a continuous drip system. Use the following formula to determine how much to add to your top–off water: m=0.08va (m=grams to add to top off water, v=volume of tank in liters, a=amount to raise alkalinity in meq/L). For example, if you want to raise your alkalinity by 1 meq/L in a 200 liter tank, then you would add 0.08x200x1=16 g into the top–off water. [For reference: 1 gallon=3.8 liters, 6 g=1 teaspoon].

Reef Calcium is a concentrated (50,000 mg/L) bioavailable polygluconate complexed calcium intended to maintain calcium in the reef aquarium without altering pH. Polygluconate complexation confers several benefits: it increases the bioavailability of the calcium, it provides a rich source of metabolic energy to help maintain peak coral growth, and it prevents calcium precipitation/alkalinity depletion. Polygluconate contains no nitrogen or phosphorous, thus it is biologically impossible for it to lead to algae growth in a properly maintained reef system.
- Maintains calcium
- Accelerates coral growth
- Will not alter pH
Reef Calcium may be used alone to maintain calcium but will provide enhanced levels of coral growth when used in conjunction with an ionic calcium supplement. Reef Calcium is intended to maintain calcium levels; if calcium becomes seriously depleted one should either perform a water change or use an ionic calcium supplement to restore the depleted level of calcium.
Reef Calcium is a concentrated (50,000 mg/L) bioavailable polygluconate complexed calcium intended to maintain calcium in the reef aquarium without altering pH. Additionally, polygluconate contains no nitrogen or phosphorous, thus it is biologically impossible for it to lead to algae growth in a properly maintained reef system. Reef Calcium utilizes a chained organic calcium rather than an ionic calcium. When a coral absorbs a molecule into its tissue, it uses the same amount of energy regardless of molecular size. However, charged molecules require more energy. When an uncharged molecule of Reef Calcium is absorbed, the coral acquires multiple calcium atoms as well as an easily metabolized carbohydrate with less energy expended than it uses for ionic calcium uptake. Therefore, at lower calcium levels, corals can still take in as much calcium through our organic chains as they would at much higher levels of ionic calcium.
- Increases the bioavailability of the calcium
- Provides a rich source of metabolic energy
- Maintains peak coral growth
- Prevents calcium precipitation/alkalinity depletion
- Will not lead to algae growth in a properly maintained reef system
Directions: Add 1 capful (5 mL) per 80 L (20 US gallons) twice a week. You can increase the amount or frequency based on growth response but do not exceed 3 capfuls per 80 L (20 gallons) per day. Each capful will raise calcium by about 3 mg/L.
Seachem Reef Carbonate helps raise carbonate alkalinity for reef aquariums. A concentrated optimized blend of carbonate and bicarbonate salts designed to restore and maintain alkalinity in the reef aquarium. Calcium and carbonates are essential to all coral growth; If either becomes deficient coral growth will cease followed by a rapid decline in coral health.
- Raises carbonate alkalinity in the reef aquarium
- Concentrated optimized blend of carbonate and bicarbonate salts
- Calcium and carbonates are essential to all coral growth
Used as directed, it will not deplete magnesium or strontium which usually tend to precipitate with increasing alkalinity. 250 milliliters treats 1000 gallons.
Reef Complete is a concentrated (160,000 mg/L) optimized blend of ionic calcium designed to restore and maintain calcium to levels found in natural seawater without affecting pH. Calcium and carbonates are essential to all coral growth. If either becomes deficient, coral growth will cease, followed by a rapid decline in coral health. To prevent this you must provide calcium (Reef complete) and carbonates (Reef Builder or Reef Carbonate) Reef Complete also includes magnesium and strontium in amounts proportionate to typical utilization ratios (100:5:0.1, Ca:Mg: Sr). This allows one to maintain these two important elements while maintaining calcium. Reef Complete is a blended product. It is not simply calcium chloride. Commercially available calcium chloride contains ammonia. Unlike other ionic calcium supplements, Reef Complete is blended to a higher pH to force the ammonia to gas off into the atmosphere. Also, Reef Complete is more concentrated than any other liquid product on the market. Reef Complete contains 160,000 ppm calcium.
- Liquid Ionic Calcium Source
- Maintains Magnesium & Strontium
- Raises Calcium
- Essential to Coral Growth
- Will Not Affect pH
INSTRUCTIONS: Beginner: Use 1 capful (5 mL) per 80 L (20 US gallons) twice a week. Check calcium every 2 weeks and adjust the amount or frequency accordingly
Advanced: Check calcium level (use Reef Status: Calcium to measure calcium), then follow the addition regimen above until calcium is adjusted to 380-420 mg/L. Each 5 mL/80 L (20 US gallons) will raise calcium by about 10 mg/L. Quantity or frequency can be adjusted, but do not exceed 12.5 mL/80 L (20 US gallons) per day. Thereafter, use as required to maintain calcium.
Expert: After determining the calcium consumption rate, set up a continuous drip system. Use the following formula (or skip the math and use our Dosage Calculator) to determine how much to add to your top off water: m=vc/160 (m=mL of product to add to top off water, v=volume of the tank in liters, c=amount to raise calcium in mg/L). [For reference: 1 US gallon=3.8 L].
If used with Reef Calcium, it is not necessary to exceed 380 mg/L total calcium. Use Reef Status: Calcium to measure calcium.
DO NOT OVERDOSE: Excess calcium may enhance the loss of carbonate alkalinity. Do not directly mix with any carbonate supplement. Best if calcium & carbonate additives are added on alternate days or at least 30 minutes apart.
